Mistfall Hunter Phase 2: Brandrgarde Solo Mode & Underlord Speed Challenge — September 2026 Preview

Bellring Games launches Mistfall Hunter Phase 2 of Season 1 in September 2026: Brandrgarde becomes solo-friendly (was trio-only), the Underlord Speed Challenge time-trial event opens, Season Tasks fully unlock, and Path of Glory points become solo-eligible at Hallowgrove Chaos and above. Plus the Phase 3 Golden Woodling + Ancestor Tree preview for late September 2026. Includes the class-by-class solo meta projection and a Phase 2 preparation checklist.

Freshness Phase 2 of Season 1 launches September 2026 (exact date TBA). Phase 3 late September 2026 adds Golden Woodling monster + Ancestor Tree event. Season 2 expected late October 2026 with new theme + ranked reset + new Phantom Jobs.

TL;DR

  • Phase 2 of Season 1 launches September 2026 (most likely mid-to-late September, exact date TBA).
  • Brandrgarde Solo Mode — the biggest Phase 2 change; Brandrgarde becomes solo-friendly (was trio-only); Path of Glory points become solo-eligible at Hallowgrove Chaos and above.
  • Underlord Speed Challenge — recurring time-trial event with bonus Echo of Fate + cosmetic rewards from Fern the Woodling NPC.
  • Season Tasks fully unlock — story pushes deeper; cosmetic rewards (S1 Pip’s Rare Pouch, Nether Ferry boat skin) become claimable.
  • Withered Knight is the recommended solo class (8/19 Super Armor + 8/28 stamina fix); Shadowstrix is the second-best (8/28 meta shift after Sorcerer nerfs).
  • No rank reset at Phase 2 — rank reset happens at Season 2 launch (late October 2026).
  • Prepare: finish one tank’s upgrade tree, stockpile 200+ Echo of Fate, complete current Season Tasks, switch to Oceania server if AU / NZ / Pacific player.

Why Phase 2 matters

Mistfall Hunter’s Season 1 launched on 2026-07-29/30 with a trio-friendly Brandrgarde difficulty (the high-tier Cataclysm map). Solo players were gated to Hallowgrove Chaos and lower difficulties for Path of Glory ranked grind — a structural disadvantage versus trio players.

Phase 2 removes that gate. Brandrgarde becomes solo-friendly, and Path of Glory points become solo-eligible at Hallowgrove Chaos difficulty and above. For solo Path of Glory grinders, this is the single biggest meta change since Season 1 launch. Once Phase 2 lands, the Fateweaver I difficulty cliff effectively disappears for solo players.

What Phase 2 adds

1. Brandrgarde Solo Mode

The biggest Phase 2 change. Brandrgarde (the high-tier Cataclysm map) was previously trio-only — solo players could not queue it. Phase 2 makes Brandrgarde solo-friendly:

  • Solo queueing unlocks for Brandrgarde
  • Path of Glory points award from Brandrgarde Solo Mode runs (same 90-point per-match cap as trio)
  • Solo players can now push past the Fateweaver I difficulty cliff

The Phase 2 rollout is test-based — Bellring is launching solo Brandrgarde on a trial basis first, with a feedback window to monitor performance and player response before deciding how far to expand it. If the launch goes well, solo Brandrgarde becomes permanent; if performance issues arise, it may revert to trio-only for Phase 3.

2. Underlord Speed Challenge

A Phase 2 recurring time-trial event:

  • Players (solo or trio) race to defeat Underlords as fast as possible
  • Leaderboard ranks reset weekly
  • Bonus rewards from Fern the Woodling NPC (an in-game vendor)
  • Rewards: Echo of Fate currency (Phase 2 Phantom Jobs vendor currency) + cosmetic rewards

The fastest clears use Withered Knight with damage-reduction augments, taking advantage of the 8/19 Super Armor on charged heavies to stay alive through Underlord frontal slam attacks. Shadowstrix is the second-fastest class for the Speed Challenge (single-target burst via backstab crit).

3. Season Tasks fully unlock

Phase 1 of Season 1 introduced Season Tasks progressively — only the first few were available at launch, with more unlocking over the Phase 1 event window. Phase 2 fully unlocks the Season Task storyline:

  • The story pushes deeper as a new crisis surfaces
  • Completing Season Tasks pays out cosmetics: S1 Pip’s Rare Pouch + Nether Ferry boat skin
  • New objectives tied to the Phase 2 content (Brandrgarde Solo runs, Underlord Speed Challenge completions)

4. Phantom Jobs vendor preview

The Phantom Jobs vendor is a Phase 2 addition (unlocks with Brandrgarde Solo Mode). The vendor sells new Phase 2-specific talents using Echo of Fate currency. The exact talents are not yet revealed — speculation includes a tank-only talent tree (Withered Knight-focused), a solo-friendly talent tree, and an Underlord-specific damage talent.

5. Phase 3 late Season 1 (late September 2026)

Phase 3 additionDetail
Golden Woodling monsterA rare monster that disguises itself as treasure; its golden glow is the bait — approaching it carries risk
Ancestor Tree match eventBreak the tree’s seal first to claim gifts from ancient spirits; rival Gyldhunters fight for the same prize
Pre-Season-2 tasksSeed early rewards and drop clues about Season 2

Phase 3 is the bridge between Season 1 and Season 2 — the Golden Woodling + Ancestor Tree add endgame variety, and the pre-Season-2 tasks set up the late October 2026 Season 2 launch.

Phase 2 class-by-class solo meta projection

Based on the 8/19 and 8/28 patches, here is the projected Phase 2 solo class ranking:

ClassSolo tierWhy
Withered KnightS-tier8/19 Super Armor + Withering Mark debuff + 8/28 stamina fix; tank spec shines in solo Brandrgarde
ShadowstrixS-tier8/19 backstab crit +8% + 8/28 Sorcerer nerfs leave Shadowstrix as top assassin; one-shot range on most classes
BlackarrowA-tier8/6 bow draw time -12% + ranged safety; weaker in solo Brandrgarde close quarters
SeerA-tier8/19 +5% heal counter-buff + 8/28 Burst Rune exploit fix; mid-tier healer, viable solo support
SorcererB-tier8/28 nerfs hit hard; still AOE burst in Hallowgrove but no longer free wins in Brandrgarde
MercenaryB-tier8/28 dodge timing changes + talent interactions patched; tank spec hurt; not top solo climb pick

For the first 2 weeks of Phase 2, expect the solo Brandrgarde meta to be dominated by Withered Knight solo runs and Shadowstrix solo runs. Blackarrow and Seer form the best duo for trios that want a more conservative playstyle.

What to do before Phase 2 lands

1. Finish at least one tank’s full upgrade tree

To be effective in Brandrgarde Solo Mode, finish at least one tank’s full upgrade tree. Withered Knight is the recommended pick (Polearm Shield + Super Armor on charged heavies from the 8/19 patch). Shadowstrix is the second-best solo option.

2. Stockpile 200+ Echo of Fate currency

Echo of Fate is the Phase 2 Phantom Jobs vendor currency. The vendor unlocks alongside Brandrgarde Solo Mode — having 200+ Echo of Fate saved up lets you buy the new Phase 2 talents on day one. Echo of Fate drops from:

  • High-tier chests in Hallowgrove Chaos
  • High-tier chests in Brandrgarde Cataclysm
  • Soul Cocoons during the Soul Harvest event window (active until Phase 2 launch)

3. Complete current Season Tasks

Phase 2 fully unlocks the Season Task storyline. If you are mid-way through Phase 1 tasks, complete them before Phase 2 — Phase 2 introduces new story content but does NOT reset Phase 1 progress.

4. Switch to the Oceania server (AU / NZ / Pacific players)

Phase 2 ships with the Oceania server region (added 2026-08-28). Switching to Oceania reduces ping by 40-80ms compared to Asia-Pacific default.

5. Pre-build a tank-augmented loadout for the Underlord Speed Challenge

For the Underlord Speed Challenge, pre-build a tank-augmented loadout with damage-reduction + cooldown-reduction augments. Withered Knight’s 8/19 Super Armor + 8/28 stamina fix make WK the recommended class.

Release window prediction

Based on the Phase 1 launch cadence:

  • Phase 1 launch: 2026-07-29/30
  • Soul Harvest live: 2026-08-14 (16 days after Phase 1 launch)
  • 8/28 server patch: 2026-08-28 (4 weeks after Soul Harvest)
  • Phase 2 prediction: ~2-3 weeks after 8/28 = September 14-21, 2026 (most likely Wednesday or Thursday, mid-September)

Confidence: medium. The cadence is consistent but not guaranteed.

Mistfall Hunter Phase 2 is the biggest mid-season update between Season 1 launch and Season 2 — it directly affects the Path of Glory grind by giving solo players a Cataclysm-tier queue option. If solo Brandrgarde succeeds as a permanent mode (Bellring’s test-based rollout), the meta will shift away from trio-dominated play toward a more flexible solo + duo + trio balance. Watch the Mistfall Hunter Discord and Steam News for the official Phase 2 date — this guide will be updated within 24 hours of the official announcement.
