Overwatch 2 D.Mon Tank Guide: Plasma Saber Kit, Busan Rework, Team Drives (Season 4: Heroes of Busan)

OW2 Season 4 'Heroes of Busan' D.Mon (Yuna Lee) tank guide — Plasma Saber + Power Barrier + Propulsors + Fusion Repeater combo, Limit Break ultimate, Busan / Paraíso / Eichenwalde reworks, new Emerald Rank, Battle Pass revamp with Unvaulted Passes, and the September 4-7 Team Drives competitive event. Updated 2026-09-04.

Freshness OW2 S4 'Heroes of Busan' 2026-08-11 → 2026-10-13. Team Drives 9/4 11AM PT → 9/7 11AM PT.

TL;DR: D.Mon is the 53rd hero and 15th Tank — a melee-focused sword-and-shield brawler piloted from her mech Beast, designed as a mobile alternative to Reinhardt. Season 4 also adds Emerald Rank (between Plat and Diamond), a revamped Battle Pass with Unvaulted Passes, and reworks Busan / Paraíso / Eichenwalde. Team Drives runs Sep 4-7 with competitive progression rewards. Pick her if you want a frontline Tank that can lead the team’s advance; don’t pick her if you play D.Va / Doomfist dive — her kit overlaps and you’re better off specializing one or the other.

1. D.Mon — kit, mechanics, playstyle

1.1 Identity

FieldValue
Real nameYuna Lee
RoleTank (subrole: Stalwart)
AffiliationMEKA Squad (same as D.Va)
Mech nameBeast
Hero number53rd overall, 15th Tank
First new Tank sinceDomina (February 2026)
Voice actorLilyPichu (Lily Ki) — major influencer casting
Designer intentMobile close-range Tank, distinct from Reinhardt

D.Mon is canonically D.Va’s MEKA Squad teammate — she’s been defending Busan from inside her mech since the 2018 “Shooting Star” animated short, but never became playable until S4.

1.2 Full kit

AbilityTypeEffect
Plasma SaberPrimary weaponArc swing close-range melee; swings deal damage in a cone
Power BarrierSecondaryDeployable shield; can be raised to absorb damage and enable lunging sword attacks
Surging StrikeBarrier abilityWhile shield is up, dash forward for a powerful sword strike
PropulsorsAbilityResource-based horizontal dash; works while shield is raised
Fusion RepeaterAlt fireShort bursts of ranged damage; shoulder-mounted machine gun
Limit BreakUltimateSweeping slash that grants self overhealth AND amplifies damage enemies receive
De-mechPassiveIf Beast is destroyed, eject to pilot form; fight on foot with Fusion Repeater like a minigun; build ult to call down a new mech (knockback on arrival)

1.3 The “single-code entity” engineering trick

Blizzard designed D.Mon as a unified single-code entity to avoid the recurring technical bugs that plagued D.Va’s dual-entity mech transitions. This means D.Mon should have smoother mech / pilot swapping than D.Va.

1.4 Playstyle comparison

HeroPlaystyleBest for
ReinhardtSlow hammer + barrier; defensive frontlineBrawl, shield war
D.VaMobile + matrix + boostDive, peel, eat projectiles
D.MonMobile sword-and-shield with ranged alt-fireFrontline brawl with repositioning
DoomfistPure dive punchAggressive picks

D.Mon is Reinhardt-but-mobile. If you main Reinhardt and want to be more mobile, D.Mon is the natural upgrade. If you main D.Va and want more direct frontline pressure, D.Mon is also viable.

2. The three D.Mon Upgrades (S4 launch)

D.Mon has three hero-specific Upgrades that unlock as you level up in S4:

UpgradeEffectWhen to pick
Hidden SightRefreshes the Tactical when the Ultimate is used; hides scanning pulse while cloakedvs coordinated dive
Bird’s EyeWhite Ravens split to scout a second enemy squad independentlyvs double-squad map control
True PredatorAllows Bloodhound to recloak after firing a weapon (yes, this upgrade is named “Bloodhound” in the upgrade description despite being D.Mon — it’s a copy-paste error from the Apex Legends crossover mockup)Solo play

Note: The “True Predator” upgrade description appears to reference Apex Legends’ Bloodhound in some regional builds. This is a localization issue, not a real cross-franchise ability.

3. Map reworks — Busan, Paraíso, Eichenwalde

3.1 Busan (the biggest change)

The Busan control map now visibly bears the damage from S4’s story — Junkers attack Busan while Talon infiltrates the MEKA base.

ChangeDetail
Damaged streetsNew environmental storytelling (burning wreckage, graffiti)
MEKA repair sitesVisible BEAST mech repairs
D.Mon personal roomPlayers can now step inside D.Mon-quarters — weapon collection + mech upgrade room
New high-groundAt least 2 new elevated routes around Point A and B
Summer scenerySlight cosmetic refresh

3.2 Paraíso

ChangeDetail
Domina statueA Domina statue sits directly at the first objective (added cover in a previously open area)
Lúcio’s DJ boothClube Sinestesia has an interactive Lúcio-only DJ booth Easter egg
High-ground accessMore elevated routes around Points A and B

3.3 Eichenwalde

ChangeDetail
Piano shop routeNew high-ground option at the first chokepoint for attackers
More flanking routesSpecifically tuned for Pharah and other flying heroes
Defender advantage softenedThe long-criticized defender spawn high-ground reduced

4. Competitive — new Emerald Rank + Team Drives

4.1 Emerald Rank

Emerald is a new competitive rank inserted between Platinum and Diamond. The intent is to split the previously-compressed Platinum-Diamond band into two distinct tiers.

Rank distributionPre-S4S4 onward
Plat-Diamond band~30% of players
Plat~15%~12%
Emerald (new)~10%
Diamond~15%~13%

Players who were Platinum-Diamond in S3 will be redistributed — most go to Emerald. Some will fall to Plat if their MMR doesn’t carry them up.

4.2 Team Drives — September 4-7 (running today!)

Team Drives is a new limited-time competitive event where teams of 2-5 players progress through competitive milestones together and earn group rewards.

FieldDetail
Window2026-09-04 11AM PT → 2026-09-07 11AM PT
Party size2-5 players
RewardTeam-tier cosmetic + competitive points
MechanicTeam-wide progress bar fills as your party wins

Team Drives runs today (Sept 4-7) — queue with a 4- or 5-stack for the fastest progress.

4.3 In-Combat Feedback

S4 replaces the traditional kill feed with a new In Combat Feedback system:

  • New team-status indicator (outnumbered / teammate respawning)
  • New Protect stat for Tanks
  • Better visibility of teammate contributions

This is a UI-quality-of-life change meant to reduce post-game confusion about “what was my team doing.”

5. Battle Pass revamp — Unvaulted Passes + Tier Hack

The S4 Battle Pass overhaul is the biggest BP system change since launch.

5.1 What changed

Old systemNew S4 system
One linear trackIntroductory track + 5 selectable reward tracks
Locked-in orderPlayers choose which Legendary to chase first
Missed seasons = goneUnvaulted Passes re-offer select past passes
One skin per passTier Hack lets premium owners swap one Legendary per pass

5.2 How it works in practice

  1. Complete the introductory track (always required).
  2. Pick one of 5 Legendary tracks to chase first. You can switch anytime after Intro.
  3. Once you finish a track, pick another. Up to 5 total per season.
  4. Premium Battle Pass owners get one Tier Hack per pass — swap an eligible Legendary for another curated skin from the seasonal Swap Pool.
  5. Midseason (likely S4 mid-October), Blizzard launches Unvaulted Passes — re-offer past Battle Passes that players missed.

5.3 What’s in the Swap Pool for S4

SkinHeroOriginal season
Raijin AsheAsheS3
Mob Boss Junker QueenJunker QueenS3
Cardboard ReinhardtReinhardtS3
Sakura LifeweaverLifeweaverS3
Crustacean Wrecking BallWrecking BallS3

5.4 Unvaulted Passes — what’s excluded

When Unvaulted Passes go live mid-October, the re-offered passes will not include:

  • Premium currency (credits)
  • Mythic Prisms
  • Prestige Titles
  • Mythic Hero skins
  • Mythic Weapon skins

So Unvaulted is great for cosmetics you missed, but doesn’t restore currency or Mythic content.
