What this page covers
SoVis Games ("we", "us", "our") operates sovisgames.com and its Chinese-language mirror at sovisgames.com/zh/. This page explains what data we collect when you visit, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using the site you agree to the practices described below.
Scope of this policy
This policy applies only to sovisgames.com. It does not apply to third-party services we link out to (game stores, publishers, social platforms), nor to user-submitted feedback stored in our admin inbox, nor to external content you may find via embeds or comments.
What we collect
We try to keep this list short.
- Server logs Standard web-server logs — your IP (anonymized after 24 hours), browser type, referring page, and timestamps. Kept up to 30 days for security and abuse debugging, then deleted.
- Aggregate pageviews An on-site counter records how often each tutorial is opened, so we can see which patch actually moved traffic. The counter does not identify you personally and we do not share it externally.
- Feedback form contents If you submit the in-page "Send feedback" form, we store the message body and the contact handle you provide. Used only to reply to you; never sold or shared.
- Cookies we set A small set of first-party cookies for theme preference, language preference, and (optionally) analytics consent. See the Cookies section below for the full list.
Cookies & similar technologies
We use a small set of cookies. None of them identify you personally outside this site.
- theme (localStorage) Stores your light / dark / auto preference. Read and written only by us; not a cookie. Cleared if you clear site data.
- console_session If you sign in to /zh/console/, an HTTP-only session cookie is set so the tools remember you. Discarded when you sign out or after 7 days, whichever comes first.
- _sv_analytics_consent Set only after you accept analytics cookies. Lets the analytics script load instead of being blocked. Max age: 12 months.
Advertising (Google AdSense)
Currently we do not run ad networks or affiliate tracking on sovisgames.com. If we enable Google AdSense or a similar provider in the future:
- Personalization choice Google (and we, by extension) will use cookies to show ads based on your prior visits to this site or other sites. You can opt out of personalized ads at any time at adssettings.google.com.
- Non-personalized fallback If you decline personalization, you will still see ads, but they will be selected using only contextual signals (the article topic), not your profile.
- Third-party vendors Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies to serve ads on this site. Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on visits to this and other sites.
Third-party links & embeds
Tutorials link out to game stores (Steam, Nintendo eShop, PlayStation Store, Xbox), publishers, and sometimes trailers hosted on YouTube or official channels. Clicking those links takes you off our site; the destination's own privacy policy governs what they collect. Sponsored or paid links are clearly marked with [Sponsored] in the body copy.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have one or more of the following rights:
- Ask us to confirm whether we hold data about you and to provide a copy (right of access).
- Ask us to correct inaccurate data (right to rectification).
- Ask us to delete data we hold about you, subject to legal-record-keeping exceptions (right to erasure).
- Restrict or object to certain processing (right to restrict processing).
- Receive data in a portable, machine-readable format (right to data portability).
- Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.
Children's privacy
sovisgames.com is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 in the EU / UK). We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If you believe we have, contact us and we will delete the relevant data within 7 days.
Changes to this policy
We may update this page as our practices change or as regulations evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top always reflects the most recent revision. Material changes (e.g. enabling an ad network) will be flagged with an in-site banner for at least 14 days before they take effect.
