Mistfall Hunter's Season 1 'Path of Glory' ranked mode launched alongside 1.0 release (2026-07-29/30 on Steam / PS5 / Xbox Series X|S). New Withered Knight class with Polearm Shield weapon, full 7-tier Path of Glory ladder (Duskborn → Zenith), 6-class balance, the 8/14 Soul Harvest full launch, the 8/19 Withered Knight live buffs, and Scavenger Squad refresh. Includes the 8/6 Live Update (51 changes) and 8/7 Server Online Update. Crossed 1M players by 2026-08-06. Reading time: 15 min.
This guide is for new and returning Mistfall Hunter players jumping into Season 1 ‘Path of Glory’. The 1.0 release and Season 1 launch both happened in late July 2026, with major live updates on 2026-08-06 and 2026-08-07.
What is Mistfall Hunter?
Mistfall Hunter is an online co-op PvPvE extraction RPG developed by Bellring Games and published by Skystone Games. It launched in 1.0 on Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S on 2026-07-29/30, and crossed 1 million players by 2026-08-06 — six days after launch.
The gameplay loop is straightforward: you team up (or solo with friends), enter a dark-fantasy hunting ground, kill monsters, loot chests, fight other players, and extract back to the hub with your haul. If you die before extracting, you lose everything you’re carrying. The PvPvE tension is the core — do you play safe and extract early, or do you push for the high-value loot that other players are also chasing?
Season 1 ‘Path of Glory’ is the first full ranked season. The path of glory track runs ~10 weeks, with tier-up rewards at Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond, and Master tiers.
Season 1 ‘Path of Glory’ — what’s new
The Season 1 launch dropped alongside 1.0 and added three big systems:
1. The Withered Knight class
Withered Knight is the new class added in Season 1. It’s a mid-range combat class with strong defensive utility:
- Polearm + Shield weapon set — primary weapon combo
- Defensive bash — melee-range stun that interrupts enemy attacks
- Frontal damage absorption — shield reduces frontal hits by ~30%
- Co-op synergy — pairs well with squishier DPS classes (Striker, Mage)
Polearm Shield is the new weapon introduced alongside Withered Knight. The weapon has a charge mechanic that was buggy at launch but was fixed in the 8/7 Server Online Update (see the patch section below).
2. Path of Glory ranked mode
Path of Glory is Season 1’s ranked PvPvE mode. You queue solo or with a squad and are matched against other players running the same maps. Path of Glory runs as a toggle on each match — you opt in by checking the box on the Stage Selection screen. There is no separate ranked queue; Path of Glory is a scoring layer over the same lobbies, with rank points awarded for extractions + monster kills + asset extraction + Gyldhunter defeats, and lost on failed extraction.
The ladder runs 7 tiers and 21 divisions (verified against the official Path of Glory tier table at methodindie.gg and captain-carry.com). Bands widen as you climb and each tier-up triggers a partial score reset.
| Tier | Divisions | Score range | Tier-up reset | Reward |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Duskborn | I (0–499) · II (500–999) · III (1000–1499) | 0–1,499 | 0 | Pro Combat Bag |
| Mistwalker | I (1500–1999) · II (2000–2499) · III (2500–2999) | 1,500–2,999 | 500 | Elite Combat Bag |
| Dawnseeker | I (3000–3599) · II (3600–4199) · III (4200–4799) | 3,000–4,799 | 1,000 | Avatar: Thread of Fate |
| Fateweaver | I (4800–5399) · II (5400–5999) · III (6000–6599) | 4,800–6,599 | 1,500 | Demonic Stone (earring) |
| Oracle | I (6600–7249) · II (7250–7899) · III (7900–8549) · IV (8550–9199) | 6,600–9,199 | 2,000 | Winged Helm (helmet) |
| Exalted | I (9200–9899) · II (9900–10599) · III (10600–11299) · IV (11300–11999) | 9,200–11,999 | 2,500 | Get Up! (gesture) |
| Zenith | One open division | 12,000+ | 2,500 | Standing Pose: Confidence |
Important mechanic: tier-up reward unlocks require you to finish 3 matches in the new tier before you collect the reward. The first two tier rewards (Duskborn + Mistwalker) are useful: the Combat Bags drop you back into runs after a bad extraction. The higher-tier rewards are cosmetic.
Fateweaver I score cliff: at Fateweaver I, the climb changes. Normal difficulty stops awarding Path of Glory points — you must queue Hallowgrove Chaos or Brandrgarde Cataclysm (the harder Brandrgarde Cataclysm unlocks at level 12, brand-new in Season 1). This is the only natural score wall on the ladder.
Per-match rank point cap: 90 points per match (max). If you hit the cap, you can no longer push your rank with extraction alone — you need to defeat Gyldhunters (80 pts each) and bosses (Underlord 20 / Mist Lord 30) to climb further.
Top of the season: the top 500 ladder finishers earn an exclusive Withered Knight armor dye and the Season 1 ranked frame — both retired after Season 1 ends.
3. The 6-class lineup + 8/6 balance overhaul (8/6 Live Update)
The 2026-08-06 Live Update made 51 balance changes across the six Season 1 classes. The actual class lineup is Mercenary, Sorcerer, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, Seer, and Withered Knight — Bellring’s official English names from the launch roster (sometimes called “Path of the Six” in the UI). The 8/6 Live Update changes affected all six:
| Class | Combat role | 8/6 patch change | Position in ranked meta |
|---|---|---|---|
| Withered Knight | Front-line tank + Polearm & Shield weapon | Polearm Shield charge +15%, Super Armor on fully charged heavies (added in 8/19) | Top-tier solo tank |
| Mercenary | Front-line bruiser + Polearm & Shield | — | Top-tier trio front-line |
| Seer | Healer + support | Heal output -10% | Mid-tier healer (was S, now A) |
| Sorcerer | Mage DPS, AOE bursts | Frost Wyrm arcane +12% | S-tier in long maps |
| Blackarrow | Ranged DPS, single-target + traps | Bow draw time -12% | A-tier in solo ranked |
| Shadowstrix | Stealth DPS, dagger | Crit damage +8% (in 8/19 hotfix) | Top-tier solo assassin |
The Withered Knight is the new class added in Season 1. The Mercenary, Sorcerer, Blackarrow, Shadowstrix, and Seer are existing 1.0 classes. (Note: a previous version of this guide referred to these as “Striker / Cleric / Ranger / Mage / Berserker” — those were early-access placeholder names. The live game uses the official names above.)
The 8/6 Live Update also added new Brandrgarde Cataclysm difficulty (unlocks at level 12 — the harder-than-Normal difficulty that Path of Glory players need to queue at Fateweaver I and above) and fixed several crash bugs.
The 8/6 Live Update + 8/7 Server Online Update
Two major patches shipped within 24 hours of each other:
8/6 Live Update (51 changes)
The 8/6 Live Update is the largest balance patch in Mistfall Hunter’s history. It made 51 changes across classes, weapons, monsters, and maps. The meta-shifting changes are listed in the table above. Other notable changes:
- New extraction zone added to the Crimson Hollow map (high-tier loot, high-tier PvP density)
- Monsters: Frost Wyrm boss now drops a guaranteed Legendary weapon
- HUD: Added a permanent extraction timer on the top-right
- Quality of life: Auto-loot now picks up gold automatically within 10m
8/7 Server Online Update
The 8/7 patch was a server-side hotfix that fixed:
- Polearm Shield charge bug — the charge meter was resetting to 0 if you switched weapons mid-charge. Now fixed.
- Shield bash — the bash hitbox was 12% smaller than intended. Now matches the animation.
- Matchmaking — Diamond-tier players were matching against Platinum too often. Now tightened.
If your game client is stuck on an older config, restart and verify game files (Steam → Right-click → Properties → Installed Files → Verify).
The best 6-class combinations for Season 1
The six classes are designed to fill specific squad roles. For the best Path of Glory grind, run a 3-player squad:
| Squad composition | Strengths | Weaknesses |
|---|---|---|
| Withered Knight + Shadowstrix + Sorcerer | Defensive tank + stealth burst + AOE. Best for solo-climb-style Path of Glory runs. | Lower sustain. Sorcerer is squishy without a dedicated healer. |
| Mercenary + Blackarrow + Seer | Bruiser + range + heal. Best for slow, safe trios in Hallowgrove Chaos. | Slow clear speed. Weak against burst co-ordinated trios. |
| Withered Knight + Blackarrow + Seer | Tank + range + healer. Most forgiving squad comp for Path of Glory climb. | Slower clear. Blackarrow draw speed is -12% but still slower than Shadowstrix burst. |
| Shadowstrix + Sorcerer + Mercenary | All-DPS with one bruiser anchor. Best for fast extractions in low-traffic maps. | Squishy backline. One-shottable by enemy squads pre-8/19. |
For solo extraction, Withered Knight is the easiest class to learn — the shield bash gives you a panic button when you run into another player, and the 8/19 Super Armor on fully charged heavies makes it even safer when brawling.
Season 1 Phase 1 mid-season content (Aug 14 → Aug 19)
Two patches shipped between the 8/7 update and the end of August: the 8/14 Soul Harvest full launch and the 8/19 Withered Knight live update. Together they reshape the post-launch meta. For a detailed breakdown see the dedicated Mistfall Hunter August 19 Patch Notes post.
8/14: Soul Harvest fully live across all maps and difficulties
Soul Harvest was the headline Season 1 Phase 1 event. After a progressive rollout, Soul Harvest went fully live on 2026-08-14 across every map and difficulty tier (Normal, Hallowgrove Chaos, Brandrgarde Cataclysm). The event brings:
- Soulgnawer elite — a roaming PvPvE boss that drops Soul Coins on kill. Fights it solo only if you outgear it; better in trios.
- Soul Cocoons — rare spawn points that drop Soulnars (event currency) for the seasonal shop.
- Multiplayer Soul Harvest showdowns — when two trios converge on a Soulgnawer, the encounter becomes a chaotic 6-player fight. Winner takes the Soul Coin.
The Soul Harvest event runs through Phase 1 (live until early September). Phase 2 starts when Brandrgarde Solo Mode unlocks — the biggest Q4 2026 patch for Mistfall Hunter, replacing the trio-only Brandrgarde with a solo-friendly version.
8/19: Withered Knight live update — major buffs
The 2026-08-19 live update was tuned specifically around the Withered Knight class, with smaller changes to the Seer and Shadowstrix:
| Class | Change | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Withered Knight | Super Armor on fully charged heavy attacks (prevents interruption) | WK can now hold a frontline against co-ordinated trios |
| Withered Knight | Reworked Withering Mark debuff — applies to enemies hit by Polearm thrust, reducing their damage by 8% for 6 seconds | Stackable in trios — three WKs are a viable strategy |
| Withered Knight | Polearm Shield bash hitbox +6% (8/7 fix was +12% alignment; this is a further hitbox correction) | Cleaner counter-engages |
| Seer | Heal output +5% (counter-nerf to 8/6’s -10%; net -5% from launch) | Seer is back to mid-tier healer, not S-tier |
| Shadowstrix | Crit damage +8% on backstab | Top-tier solo assassin |
| All classes | Scavenger Squad material refresh mechanic added — chest respawn timer cut by 20% inside the new Brandrgarde Cataclysm | More loot, more runs, faster Path of Glory grind |
The 8/19 update also added expanded controller customization options, including separate bindings for the Polearm/Shield quick-swap and the Soul Harvest event actions.
Forward outlook: Phase 2 (early September)
| Patch | Window | What’s new |
|---|---|---|
| Soul Harvest event | 2026-08-14 → early September | Event active |
| Brandrgarde Solo Mode | Early September (Phase 2) | Brandrgarde becomes solo-friendly (was trio-only); Path of Glory points also become solo-eligible |
| Phase 3 late Season 1 | Late September | New monster (Golden Woodling) + Ancestor Tree random match event + early Season 2 teaser |
The Phase 2 launch of Brandrgarde Solo Mode is the biggest Mistfall Hunter patch between Season 1 launch and Season 2 — it directly affects the Path of Glory grind by giving solo players a Cataclysm-tier queue option. Once Phase 2 lands, the Fateweaver I difficulty cliff goes away.
Update: 2026-08-28 server maintenance patch
The 2026-08-28 patch (first Mistfall Hunter update with scheduled downtime, 06:30 UTC+0 maintenance, ~2 hours) shipped just before the Phase 2 launch and rebalances the Path of Glory grind:
- Sorcerer nerfs — the Stardust Sorcerer Unending Torrent talent path and several Meteor / Frost Wyrm arcane burst windows were dialed back. The class is no longer a free-win in Hallowgrove Chaos, which means Hallowgrove Chaos + lower difficulties now favor Withered Knight and Shadowstrix for solo Path of Glory grinders.
- Mercenary dodge changes — dodge-cancel windows on Stonebreaker Slash and Whirling Cut were tightened. Mercenary falls to mid-tier solo.
- Withered Knight stamina fixes — the long-range dash branched from Parry had been bugged to fling the character into the sky. Fixed.
- Revealing Bulb auto-seek + Fetid Jar hit radius — solo-friendly tactical item buffs. Revealing Bulb is now a top-tier solo pick.
- Oceania server expansion — first regional addition since launch; AU / NZ / Pacific players get 40-80ms ping improvement.
- Season Task difficulty reductions — kill counts lowered, difficulty-mode restrictions relaxed, daily task rewards 30 → 40 Contract Sigils.
The combined effect on Path of Glory: solo Withered Knight + solo Shadowstrix are the two classes to climb with through the rest of Season 1. Seer is a viable trio support. Blackarrow works in trios. Sorcerer and Mercenary need Phase 2 / Season 2 buffs to climb back.
