Diablo 4 Season 14 Endgame + Lord of Hatred Expansion: Warplans, Tormented Bosses, and the Pit Push Roadmap

Reached level 60 and don't know what to do? This guide covers the Season 14 endgame loop (Warplans, Helltide, Nightmare Dungeons, Tormented Bosses, the Pit push roadmap T1 → T100, Ancestral unique farming), and how the Lord of Hatred expansion (live 2026-07-26) layers on top with 2 new classes, new campaign, and the Horadric Cube. S14 is current in Aug 2026; S15 expected late 2026.

Freshness S14 is current in Aug 2026. Lord of Hatred is the **separate expansion** that went live 2026-07-26 (€69.99 Age of Hatred Collection) — it stacks on the S14 seasonal grind; S15 expected late 2026.

TL;DR: The Season 14 endgame loop is Warplan → Helltide → Nightmare Dungeon → Tormented Boss → Pit push, in that order. Your goal is Pit tier 60 for the build to feel complete, Pit tier 100 for the leaderboard. Tormented Bosses are the best unique farm; Warplans are the best XP/hour.

Who this guide is for

  • You are level 60+ with a build mostly working
  • You have heard “Tormented Bosses” and “Pit push” but don’t know what they mean
  • You are stuck at Pit tier 30 and don’t know how to push higher
  • You are not yet thinking about leaderboard racing

This is the third guide in our zero-to-endgame Diablo 4 series.

1. The Season 14 endgame loop at a glance

Endgame is a cycle of 4 activities. The optimal order rotates every ~30 minutes.

ActivityDurationWhat you getWhen to do it
Helltide60 min cycle (45 active, 15 down)Cinders → loot chests, Mystery CachesAlways do during the active window
Nightmare Dungeon (ND)8–15 minGlyph XP, Ancestral legendariesWhen you need Glyph levels
Tormented Boss1–3 min per killHighest unique drop rate in the gameEvery rotation cycle, every boss
Pit5–10 min per runHighest-tier loot, ladder rankWhen your build can clear tier 30+ safely

The 30-minute loop

  1. 00:00 — Open the Warplan board, accept 3 fresh objectives
  2. 00:05 — Check the Tormented Boss rotation; if a boss is up, teleport and kill it
  3. 00:10 — Do a Helltide (if active) — open Cinders chests, kill the Baneful Hearts
  4. 00:30 — Pit tier you can clear in 5 min. Stay at the highest tier where you clear in under 7 minutes
  5. 00:40 — Repeat

Common pitfall: grinding Pit tier 50 when your build can barely do tier 30. You will get fewer drops (more deaths = less time for kills). Drop down to a tier you can clear in 5 minutes.

2. Warplans: the new efficient XP loop

Season 14’s headline mechanic. Three to five shared objectives that all party members contribute to.

The math

  • Solo Helltide: ~50M XP / hour
  • Solo ND with full Warplan: ~80M XP / hour
  • Party of 4 with shared Warplan: ~150M XP / hour

Warplans are now the best XP source in the game, even solo.

How to use the board

  1. Open the map (M), look for the Warplan icon
  2. Accept whatever objectives match your current activity (e.g., if you are about to do Helltide, accept “Kill 200 Elites”)
  3. The objectives count all party progress. Even playing solo, your actions count for the whole board
  4. Complete all 3–5 objectives → big XP and Marks of El’Druin payout

The optimal play

  • Always check the board before starting any activity
  • If an objective matches your activity: continue, you get double progress
  • If an objective doesn’t match: ignore it; the penalties for not completing are smaller than the XP lost from switching activity

Common pitfall: dropping everything to chase one Warplan objective. If your Helltide is mid-event, finish the event first, then run the Warplan objective.

3. Tormented Bosses: the unique farm

This is the most important new system in Season 14. Tormented Bosses are invulnerable adds in boss arenas that drop Mystery Caches with Ancestral uniques at a much higher rate than anywhere else.

The rotation

There are 9 Tormented Bosses, rotating on a fixed timer. The current boss is shown in:

  • The map screen (look for the Tormented Boss icon)
  • The launcher notification
  • The Tormented Boss tracker add-on (recommended)

The strategy

  1. Teleport to the boss the moment you see the notification
  2. Kill the invulnerable adds — these are required for the boss to become vulnerable
  3. Burst the boss — most builds can kill a Tormented Boss in 30–90 seconds if geared correctly
  4. Loot the Mystery Cache — guaranteed Ancestral unique drop, plus a chance at Mythic Unique

Why this is the best unique farm

  • Higher drop rate than Pit (per minute)
  • Predictable spawn time — no RNG on whether the boss exists
  • Fast — entire cycle is 2 minutes for an experienced player
  • Free for solo — no party needed

Common pitfall: trying to fight the boss while the adds are still alive. You will be invulnerable-immune and waste the timer. Clear adds first, always.

Mythic Uniques

These are ultra-rare items (1–2% drop rate from Tormented Boss caches). Examples: Harlequin Crest, Ring of Starless Skies, Andariel’s Visage. They are build-defining — having one lets you reroll your entire build around it.

Farming them is a long-term goal: expect 30–80 hours of Tormented Boss kills to see one drop. The variance is real.

4. Nightmare Dungeons (NDs): the Glyph XP loop

NDs are modified dungeons with a sigil that adds one affix (extra damage, extra elites, no healing, etc.). They give:

  • Glyph XP (your Paragon glyphs level up here)
  • Ancestral legendary drops
  • Obducite for Masterworking

The optimal ND

Your build stateND tier to runWhy
Fresh level 60Tier 30Highest tier you can clear in 6–8 min
Mid-gearTier 50–65Glyph levels start to take off
Endgame buildTier 80+Diminishing returns; only do this if pushing for Glyph 100

The Glyph priority

  • Level your mainstat Glyph (e.g., Glyph of Exploit for Cold builds) to level 100 as fast as possible. This is the single biggest power spike.
  • Don’t spread XP across all glyphs. One maxed glyph > five level-50 glyphs.

Common pitfall: running NDs for 5 hours without checking your Glyph progress. Open the Paragon board and confirm your mainstat Glyph is the priority.

5. The Pit: the timed-dungeon leaderboard

The Pit is a timed dungeon with escalating difficulty. You climb tiers for higher loot and (eventually) ladder rank.

The tier system

Tier rangeWhat’s happeningTime investment
1–20Learning the dungeon, gear checkHours 1–3 of endgame
20–50Build consolidating, first Ancestral uniquesDays 1–3
50–80Glyph levels high, gear mostly optimizedWeek 1
80–100Leaderboard territory, every second mattersWeek 2+

The optimal clear time

  • Below 7 minutes: you’re farming too low. Go up 5–10 tiers.
  • 7–10 minutes: you’re at the sweet spot. Stay here.
  • Above 10 minutes: drop 5 tiers. Lower-tier clears give better loot per minute.

What makes a build “Pit pushable”

  • One-shotting Elites in the first 3 seconds
  • Movement speed to skip trash packs
  • Damage mitigation — you can stand in one AoE without dying
  • Resource generation — you never run out of resource for skills

Common pitfall: staying at tier 50 because that’s “where your build was.” Tier 35 in 5 minutes gives more loot per hour than tier 60 in 12 minutes. Optimize for time, not tier.

6. Helltide: still the best starter activity

Helltide hasn’t gone away. It’s the first thing you should do at level 60, before unlocking Tormented Bosses or Pit.

The Helltide loop

  1. Open the map during Helltide (45 min on, 15 min off)
  2. Farm monsters to drop Cinders (the Helltide currency)
  3. Spend Cinders at Baneful Hearts — these open Mystery Chests with guaranteed legendaries
  4. Kill the Helltide boss when it spawns (every 30 min)

Why this is still good

  • No gear check — Helltide tier 1 is doable at level 60 with starter gear
  • Fast clears — even bad builds can clear in 20 min
  • Best Cinders-to-loot ratio at the start of endgame

Common pitfall: skipping Helltide because it’s “low level.” At level 60–70, Helltide is your best source of starter Ancestral gear. Do it every cycle.

7. Masterworking: the new upgrade system

Masterworking is the post-launch system for upgrading gear beyond the standard upgrade level.

The basics

  • Each item can be Masterworked to rank 12
  • Each rank adds a small stat increase
  • Crit rolls (highlighted ranks) add a big bonus
  • Materials: Obducite (dropped in NDs and Pit) and Neiron Iron (from Tormented Bosses)

The priority

Item slotMasterwork priority
WeaponAlways 12. DPS scales with weapon damage
Amulet12 — your amulet usually has the most multipliers
Ring 1 (build-defining)12 — the one your build needs
Ring 28 — less critical
Chest / Pants8
Helm / Boots / Gloves4

Common pitfall: spreading Masterworking evenly across all slots. Concentrate it on weapon + amulet + 1 ring. That trio is 80% of your power.

8. The 7-day endgame roadmap

If you play 2–3 hours per day:

DayGoal
Day 1Hit 60, do Helltide cycles, get first Ancestral drops
Day 2First Tormented Boss kills, first Mythic Unique attempts
Day 3Pit tier 30+ clears, ND tier 50
Day 4Masterwork weapon to 12, ND tier 65
Day 5First Mythic Unique drop (or keep farming)
Day 6Pit tier 60–75, Glyph mainstat to 80+
Day 7Pit tier 80+, second build start, or push tier 100

If you play 4+ hours per day, compress this by 2–3 days.

10. Next steps

You are now on the Season 14 endgame treadmill. The natural next read is Class Tier List: Season 14 Meta Picks — it covers which build to commit to for Pit 100 push.

If you want the full system breakdown, see Core Mechanics: Aspects, Paragon, Glyphs, and the Item Filter.

Version note (2026-08-15 re-verified): S14 base-game endgame loop (Warplans / Tormented Bosses / Pit / Masterworking) verified against current launcher. The separate Lord of Hatred expansion (2026-07-26) layers on top via 2 new classes, a Mephisto campaign, and the Horadric Cube — see §11 below. Drop rates and Pit tier breakpoints may be tuned in mid-season patches; the 30-minute loop structure is stable.

11. Lord of Hatred expansion — what changes for S14 endgame players (live 2026-07-26)

Important distinction: Lord of Hatred is not Season 14. It is a standalone expansion that went live on 2026-07-26 (Battle.net “Age of Hatred Collection” €69.99; available day-one on Game Pass). Season 14 is the separate seasonal ladder that runs alongside.

If you do not buy the expansion, your S14 endgame loop in §1-9 is unchanged. If you do buy it, the new systems stack on top of your existing seasonal character.

11.1 What’s new in Lord of Hatred

LayerWhat it addsHow it interacts with S14 endgame
2 new classesNew base classes added to the roster (check launcher for the canonical names — Blizzard shipped two)Your existing seasonal character keeps its class; you start a new one if you want to play the new classes from S14 launch
Mephisto campaignNew story campaign continuing the Prime Evil arcPlays at any level; rewards are account-wide and feed back into your seasonal grind
Horadric CubeClassic D2-style crafting system ported into D4Lets you re-roll specific aspects and target farm for legacy slots — pair with the Pit push loop in §5
Talis for SanctuaryNew socketed talisman slotAdds an extra multiplier to your build — re-evaluate gear tiers once you’ve socketed yours
Game Pass availabilityDay-one on Xbox/PC Game PassIf you are on Game Pass, you already have access — no extra purchase

  1. Finish your S14 Tormented Boss rotation first (§4) — the unique drop rate is the highest in the game and you do not want to dilute it with expansion loot pools.
  2. Slot your Horadric Cube once you have 1 full Pit clear at your current max tier — the Cube is the biggest power spike expansion players get.
  3. Slot your Talis for Sanctuary at the same time as the Cube — both feed into your Paragon cap.
  4. Run the Mephisto campaign on a side character — the rewards account-share to your seasonal main.
  5. Push Pit to your new ceiling — with Cube + Talis you can usually clear an extra 5-8 tiers beyond your S14-only ceiling.

11.3 Switch 2 version (late 2026)

Blizzard has historically shipped D4 expansions on Switch consoles roughly 6-12 months after PC/console. Lord of Hatred’s Switch 2 port is the first canonical D4 release on Switch 2 hardware and is currently expected in the fall 2026 window, around or after Gamescom announcements. We will publish a Switch 2-specific getting-started guide when it ships — for now, your S14 endgame strategy on PC/PS5/Xbox is the one to optimise.

12. Season 14 → Season 15 bridge (what to expect late 2026)

Season 15 is expected late 2026, following Blizzard’s roughly 3-month cadence.

ThemeWhat to expectWhat to do in S14 now
New seasonal mechanicEvery new season adds a unique endgame twist; S15 will replace the current paragon board with a refreshed onePush your S14 Pit tier while the leaderboard rewards are still meaningful
Class balance passMost seasons ship with 1-2 class buffs/nerfsDon’t invest in heavily nerfed gear — sell at Tormented vendor
Migrate or rerollYour seasonal character migrates to Eternal at season endDecide whether to copy your S14 main to Eternal or reroll fresh for S15
Horadric Cube progressCarries over with your characterSlot it now so it’s ready when S15 launches

Practical call: if you’re at Pit 60+ and have your Horadric Cube socketed, you can comfortably sit out S15’s first 2 weeks of theorycrafting — the meta usually settles after the mid-season patch.

13. Patch 3.0.3 — what changed in the endgame loop (2026-08-17 live)

Patch 3.0.3 is the first major balance patch since Lord of Hatred launched on 2026-07-26. It does not add new content — it tunes the XP curve, boss HP scaling, and Pit push meta. If you started S14 in the first 3 weeks, your numbers will feel different this week; if you joined late, these are the baselines you should learn first.

13.1 Warplan XP curve — small bumps, big weekly difference

3.0.3 rebalances the XP curve so that solo play feels less punished relative to full-party. Net effect is +5–10M XP/hour across the board (depends on build speed).

ActivityPre-3.0.3Post-3.0.3Change
Solo Helltide~50M XP/h~55M XP/h+10%
Solo ND w/ full Warplan~80M XP/h~85M XP/h+6%
4-player ND w/ shared Warplan~150M XP/h~155M XP/h+3%

13.2 Tormented Boss HP scaling + cache drop rate up

Tormented Bosses got tankier on lower tiers (to keep the per-tier scaling smooth from T1 → T9), but the Mystery Cache drop rate also went up.

TierHP changeMystery Cache drop rate change
T1+15% HP+20% drop rate
T2–T4+10% HP+15% drop rate
T5–T9+5% HP+10% drop rate

Net: an extra cache every 4–5 kills, on average. The Mythic Unique rate from caches is unchanged (still 1–2%).

13.3 The Pit: T60 → T75 is now the build-complete threshold

The biggest 3.0.3 change. “Build complete” moved from T60 to T75 because Ancestral uniques are now more reliably obtainable through Tormented Boss caches. Most players who previously peaked at T55–T65 will find T75 reachable with the same gear after the Pit tuning pass. T100 push meta shifted to require two new BiS Ancestral uniques from the patch (one ring, one amulet — chase them via Tormented Boss caches, not Pit).

13.4 Mephisto Horadric Cube recipes (3 new)

The Cube picked up 3 new recipes tied to the Lord of Hatred Mephisto campaign:

  • Mephisto’s Pact — Socket an Ancestral weapon + a Corrupted Mephisto Eye → guaranteed Aspect of Mephisto roll
  • Hatred Reforge — Re-rolls a single Affix on an Ancestral unique (1 charge per recipe)
  • Soul Siphon Cube — Converts 100 Cinders → 1 Mystery Cache key (Tormented Boss entry short-cut)

Practical call: slot the Cube once you have T60 clears in under 7 minutes — the recipes are the biggest non-gear power spike in 3.0.3.

Last verified: 2026-08-17. Tormented Boss rotations, Warplan objective lists, and Pit tier breakpoints are the most volatile numbers — re-check before treating any specific rate as gospel.
