Halo: Campaign Evolved Cross-Play Guide + Free Recompilation Armor Code
Halo: Campaign Evolved supports 4-player online cross-play co-op across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC, plus 2-player split-screen co-op on console, plus cross-save between console and PC. Plus: how to redeem the free Recompilation Armor Style code ZS75-7UM8-C2BL-JE3D-4BFZ on Halo Waypoint, what the armor does, and how to pull it into your save file.
TL;DR
- 4-player online cross-play co-op across Xbox Series X|S / PS5 / PC — enabled by default.
- 2-player split-screen co-op on Xbox Series X|S / PS5 — not on PC.
- Cross-save between Xbox / PS5 / PC via Halo Waypoint.
- Free Recompilation Armor Style code on Halo Waypoint — ZS75-7UM8-C2BL-JE3D-4BFZ.
- Auto-granted on login post-8/17 (Update 17.661.002); manual redemption also works.
- Purely cosmetic — does not change Master Chief’s stats, abilities, or progression.
- First mainline Halo on PlayStation — cross-play with PS5 is unrestricted.
Cross-play — the full setup
Halo: Campaign Evolved supports 4-player online cross-play co-op across Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC. Cross-play is enabled by default and supports the base campaign, the three METEORITE prequel missions, and all difficulty settings (Normal / Heroic / Legendary).
How to enable or disable cross-play
To enable or disable cross-play, go to Settings → Online → Cross-Play:
- Cross-Play On (default): matchmaking includes players from Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC.
- Cross-Play Off: matchmaking is restricted to same-platform players only.
Most players will leave cross-play On. Disabling cross-play reduces the matchmaking pool, especially for Legendary difficulty where players are fewer.
Cross-play with PS5 — what is new
Halo: Campaign Evolved is the first mainline Halo title to launch on PlayStation. Cross-play with PS5 is unrestricted — PS5 players can matchmake into sessions with Xbox Series X|S and PC players, and vice versa. Halo Studios confirmed the cross-platform matchmaking in the official launch announcement on 2026-07-28.
This is a significant shift from previous Halo titles, which were Xbox / PC exclusive. Halo Studios’ decision to ship on PS5 was announced in early 2026 alongside the campaign reveal.
Split-screen co-op — Xbox / PS5 only
Halo: Campaign Evolved supports 2-player split-screen co-op on Xbox Series X|S and PS5. Split-screen is not available on PC.
How to set up split-screen
To set up split-screen:
- Connect a second controller to your Xbox Series X|S or PS5.
- Launch Halo: Campaign Evolved.
- Pick Co-op → Local Co-op → Split-Screen.
- Sign in the second player on the same console.
Both players share the screen at a 50/50 split — horizontal or vertical, configurable in Settings → Display → Split-Screen Orientation.
Split-screen caveats
- Local guest profiles are not supported. The second player must have their own Xbox Live / PSN account.
- Split-screen is not available on PC. PC players must use online cross-play co-op.
- Split-screen supports the base campaign and the three METEORITE prequel missions. Difficulty settings (Normal / Heroic / Legendary) work in split-screen.
Cross-save — Halo Waypoint sync
Halo: Campaign Evolved supports cross-save between Xbox Series X|S, PS5, and PC via Halo Waypoint. Cross-save syncs:
- Campaign progress (which missions are complete, which difficulty unlocks are earned).
- METEORITE progress (which METEORITE missions are complete).
- Recompilation Armor Style and other Halo Waypoint unlocks.
- Customization settings (keybindings, video settings, audio settings — though these are also platform-specific).
How to enable cross-save
To enable cross-save:
- Sign in to Halo Waypoint (halowaypoint.com) on every platform you play on (Xbox, PS5, Steam / Microsoft Store PC).
- In Halo: Campaign Evolved, go to Settings → Online → Cross-Save → On.
Cross-save is opt-in, not opt-out. The game does not sync your save file until you explicitly enable cross-save.
Cross-save caveats
- Cross-save requires a Halo Waypoint account. If you do not have a Halo Waypoint account, your progress is local to each platform.
- Cross-save syncs the most recent save. If you play offline on one platform and online on another, the most recent save wins. There is no merge-conflict resolution.
- Cross-save does not sync in-game settings. Keybindings, video settings, and audio settings are platform-specific. You will need to configure each platform separately.
Recompilation Armor Style — free on Halo Waypoint
The Recompilation Armor Style is a free cosmetic redeem code on Halo Waypoint. The code is ZS75-7UM8-C2BL-JE3D-4BFZ.
What the armor is
The Recompilation Armor Style is a darker, more angular variant of Master Chief’s default Mk VI armor. The design is inspired by the Slipspace Engine’s source-code recompilation — it is a meta-reference to Halo Studios’ rebuilt engine work on Halo: Campaign Evolved.
The armor replaces Master Chief’s default Mk VI with a darker, more angular variant. The armor is purely cosmetic — it does not change Master Chief’s stats, abilities, or progression.
How to redeem the code
To redeem the code:
- Go to halowaypoint.com.
- Sign in with your Xbox Live / Steam / PSN account.
- Navigate to Redeem Code.
- Enter ZS75-7UM8-C2BL-JE3D-4BFZ.
- Confirm.
The armor will appear in your Halo Waypoint inventory within 60 seconds.
Auto-grant post-8/17
The Recompilation Armor Style is also auto-granted on login post-8/17 — Update 17.661.002 (2026-08-17) added the armor to the auto-login grant list. If you log into Halo: Campaign Evolved after 2026-08-17, the armor is automatically added to your Halo Waypoint inventory.
If you rely on the auto-grant and do not see the armor, log out of Halo Waypoint and log back in to force a sync.
How to apply the armor in-game
After redeeming the code (or after the auto-grant), the armor needs to be pulled into your Halo: Campaign Evolved save file:
- Launch Halo: Campaign Evolved.
- Go to the main menu.
- Pick Customization → Master Chief → Armor Style → Recompilation.
The armor replaces Master Chief’s default Mk VI. To revert to Mk VI, pick Armor Style → Mk VI (Default) in the same menu.
Cross-play + cross-save + Recompilation — the complete flow
If you are playing on multiple platforms and want the full cross-play + cross-save + Recompilation Armor flow:
- Create a Halo Waypoint account at halowaypoint.com if you do not have one.
- Sign in to Halo Waypoint on Xbox, PS5, and PC.
- Enable cross-save in Settings → Online → Cross-Save on each platform.
- Redeem the Recompilation Armor code ZS75-7UM8-C2BL-JE3D-4BFZ on Halo Waypoint.
- Launch Halo: Campaign Evolved on each platform and pull the armor into your save file via Customization → Master Chief → Armor Style → Recompilation.
- Find a 4-player cross-play session via Co-op → Online Co-op → Find Session.
You are now playing Halo: Campaign Evolved with full cross-play, cross-save, and the Recompilation Armor Style.
Halo: Campaign Evolved’s cross-play / cross-save / split-screen setup is one of the most generous in the series — 4-player online cross-play across Xbox / PS5 / PC, 2-player split-screen on console, cross-save via Halo Waypoint, and a free Recompilation Armor Style code on Halo Waypoint. The Recompilation Armor is a fun cosmetic, but the cross-play / cross-save infrastructure is the real story — Halo Studios rebuilt the entire online stack for this title, and it shows.
