Warzone Current Season Best Loadouts and Settings: Patch Notes Explained (2026)
The current S-tier and A-tier weapons after the Warzone Season 4 Reloaded update on BO7 — full loadouts for MXR-17, Carbon 57, Strider 300 and more, plus the new Champion's Quest, the 2026-07-27 hotfix, and the Rebirth Island changes you actually need to know.
Season 4 Reloaded of Call of Duty: Warzone landed in late June on the Black Ops 7 engine, and the meta has now had two hotfix windows to settle. This guide is based on the BO7 build currently live as of 2026-07-27 (main patch 2026-07-09 + hotfix 2026-07-22 + a small balance pass on 2026-07-26). If you’ve been running last season’s loadouts, you’re going to lose gunfights you used to win — the time-to-kill math is genuinely different this patch.
Note: This is a current-patch tier list, not a personal ranking. Treat the table below as the consensus view from Diamond+ ranked, BO7 esports circuit data, and the three most-cited loadout sites. If your main is A-tier and you have 200 hours on it, you’ll outperform an S-tier player with five games.
What changed since the 2026-07-23 refresh
The 26 July hotfix is small but it matters if you main any of these weapons:
| Weapon | Change | Net effect on the meta |
|---|---|---|
| MXR-17 | First-shot recoil reduced by ~8%, chest-shot damage at 30–60m increased by 1 damage | Still S-tier, slightly more forgiving for medium-range duels |
| Carbon 57 | ADS time reduced by 3% | Still S-tier, faster peeks corners |
| Strider 300 | Slight flinch reduction when hit while aiming | Still S-tier for quickscopers; less punished for missing a hit-marker |
| AK-27 | Hip-fire spread tightened by 6% | Moves from A to A+, the buff you’ve been waiting for since Season 3 |
| Voyak | Close-range damage reduced by another 5% | Drops from A to B, the second nerf this season is the death blow |
| Dravec 45 | Magazine capacity increased from 35 to 40 | Stays A-tier, slightly more forgiving in extended fights |
| Hawker HX | Rechamber time increased by 12ms | Drops from A to B, no longer worth pairing in double-sniper quads |
| X9 Maverick | No change | A-tier, the most stable pick in the class |
| Maddox | Vertical recoil reduced by 5% | Moves from B to A, the surprise buff of the hotfix |
The 26 July hotfix is a net buff for both. The Maddox is genuinely back in the conversation for the first time since the Season 3 nerfs. The AK-27 is now a legitimate alternative to the MXR-17 in close-mid range — if recoil is your sticking point, this is the patch to switch.
The short version: MXR-17 / Carbon 57 / Strider 300 are still the trio, but the AK-27 and Maddox are now worth a second look for the first time in months, and the Hawker HX is no longer the second-sniper you pair it with.
What’s actually new in Season 4 Reloaded
The mid-season update hit Warzone on June 25, 2026, roughly halfway through the BO7 Season 4 cycle. The headline changes from that initial Reloaded patch (which still anchor the meta today):
- Champion’s Quest is back — this time as a Rebirth Island variant. You can earn it through five match wins in a row or 30 total wins in a season, then complete the in-match contract for a Tactical Nuke.
- Rebirth Island rework — building interiors redone, new rooftop POIs, and a balanced loot economy that favors mid-range ARs over the long-range snipers that dominated last season.
- MK35 and SMG buffs across the board — every SMG gets a 4–7% close-range damage buff, which is why the Carbon 57 jumped to S-tier.
- Maddox buff and X9 Maverick buff — two of the previously-B-tier ARs got a baseline buff that made them meta contenders (the 26 July hotfix pushed the Maddox fully into A-tier).
- Voyak nerf — the BO6 SMG that everyone was running got its close-range TTK increased by ~12% in the Reloaded patch, then another 5% in the 26 July hotfix. It is now a B-tier pick.
The result: ARs are still the kings of mid-long range, but SMGs matter again on Rebirth and the new small-map modes, and the second-sniper meta on quads has shifted from Hawker HX to the Strider 300 alone.
S-tier weapons (absolute meta)
These three define the current patch. If you only have time to learn one loadout per category, learn these.
MXR-17 — Long-range Assault Rifle (#1 overall)
The MXR-17 is the new king of mid-long range. The S4 Reloaded patch buffed its chest-shot damage by 6%, and the 26 July hotfix added another 1 damage at 30–60m plus an 8% first-shot recoil reduction. The recoil is still tame if you build for it, and it out-DPS the AK-27 at ranges above 50m.
Recommended attachments:
| Slot | Attachment | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Muzzle | Compensator L4 | Cuts horizontal recoil by ~25% |
| Barrel | Reinforced Barrel V2 | +15% damage range, no ADS penalty |
| Underbarrel | Vertical Grip | Recoil stabilization for tracking |
| Magazine | Extended Mag II | 50-round mag — crucial for squad wipes |
| Optic | Slate Reflector (or Player’s choice) | Clean sight picture, no sway |
Perks: Double Time, Sleight of Hand, Tempered (BO7 perk system).
TTK at 60m: ~430ms (chest shots, after 26 July hotfix). That’s faster than every other AR in the live data and a measurable improvement on the 440ms of last week.
Carbon 57 — Close-range SMG (#1)
The Season 4 Reloaded SMG buff pushed the Carbon 57 from A to S. Hip-fire accuracy is now within the meta window, and the headshot multiplier is back to 1.4x after the brief 1.2x dip in S3. The 26 July hotfix shaved another 3% off its ADS time, which matters most for peeking corners in Rebirth.
Recommended attachments:
| Slot | Attachment | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Muzzle | Suppressor (any) | Keeps you off the minimap |
| Barrel | Short Barrel | Hip-fire + ADS spread bonus |
| Stock | No Stock variant | ADS speed boost |
| Magazine | Fast Mag | 40 rounds, fast reload |
| Laser | Tac Laser | Hip-fire accuracy |
TTK at 10m: ~280ms — the fastest in the game right now. Pair with a sniper secondary and you cover both close and long range. The faster ADS time means your first shot lands roughly 15ms sooner than it did a week ago.
Strider 300 — Sniper Rifle (#1)
The Strider 300 keeps the top sniper slot it earned in S3. S4 Reloaded didn’t nerf it directly, but the Rebirth Island map rework favors its fast ADS and quickscope capability.
Recommended attachments: Short Barrel, Variable Zoom scope, Fast Mag, Pad-Pad grip, Suppressor.
Use it for: Solo queueing Rebirth, where the small-map chaos rewards fast quickscopes over long-angle holds.
A-tier weapons (meta, but not top)
These are not S-tier, but they’re not far off. Pick one based on your playstyle or your second-weapon slot. Last refreshed 2026-07-27 after the 26 July hotfix.
| Weapon | Category | Why it’s A | When to use it | Tier change vs. last week |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| AK-27 | Long-range AR | Highest single-shot damage in class; tighter hip-fire after 26 July | If you can control the kick, it’s a 1-tap headshot machine | A → A+ (hip-fire buff) |
| X9 Maverick | Long-range AR | Post-buff ADS speed, no changes in the hotfix | Aggressive pushers on Urzikstan | A → A (unchanged) |
| Maddox | Long-range AR | Surprise hotfix buff: -5% vertical recoil | Long-rotation lobbies where stability matters | B → A (moved up) |
| Dravec 45 | SMG + Sniper Support | Versatile, two viable builds, +5 mag rounds | Doubles as sniper support or solo SMG | A → A (small mag buff) |
| DS20 Mirage | Sniper Support AR | Best-in-class bullet velocity | Long-range beam role | A → A (unchanged) |
| VS Recon | Sniper | One-shot potential above 80m | Patient quickscopers | A → A (unchanged) |
| Peacekeeper Mk1 | Sniper Support AR | Rebirth-specific buff | Small map domination | A → A (unchanged) |
| VX Compact | Sniper Support AR | Accurate, low recoil | Backup role in trios | A → A (unchanged) |
| MPC-25 | SMG | S4 Reloaded buff | Backup to Carbon 57 | A → A (unchanged) |
B-tier watches (and the picks that fell)
These weapons dropped a tier in the 26 July hotfix — if you main one, the meta is now actively working against you:
- Hawker HX (sniper) — fell from A to B after a 12ms rechamber nerf. The double-sniper quad build no longer runs this; pair the Strider 300 with the VS Recon if you want a second sniper.
- Voyak (SMG) — fell from A to B after a second consecutive nerf to close-range damage. Still playable in the right hands, but you will lose straight-up SMG duels to a Carbon 57 of equal skill.
If you main one of these and you’re winning gunfights, don’t switch — the A-tier range is close enough that familiarity beats raw tier. The Hawker HX and Voyak drops are larger gaps; consider at least trying the A-tier alternatives for a session before deciding.
Meta loadouts for each game mode
Battle Royale (Urzikstan, 150-player)
- Primary: MXR-17 (long-range AR)
- Secondary: Strider 300 (sniper)
- Perks: Double Time, Tempered, High Caliber (or your LMG perk of choice)
- Tacticals: Stimshot, Smoke
- Lethal: Semtex
Why: Urzikstan’s open POIs favor long sight lines. The MXR-17 dominates mid-range peek fights; the Strider 300 punishes anyone trying to rotate in the open.
Battle Royale (Rebirth Island, 44-player)
- Primary: Carbon 57 (SMG) or MPC-25
- Secondary: Dravec 45 (sniper support) or DS20 Mirage
- Perks: Double Time, Sleight of Hand, Tempered
- Tacticals: Flash, Stun
- Lethal: Throwing Knife
Why: Rebirth’s tight interiors favor fast ADS and high DPS. Champion’s Quest also runs here, so you’ll be in frequent close-range scrambles.
Resurgence Quads (4-stack small-map)
- Primary: X9 Maverick (post-buff AR)
- Secondary: Strider 300 (single sniper — Hawker HX dropped out of meta after 26 July)
- Perks: Tracker, Quartermaster, Tempered
- Tacticals: Snapshot grenade, Decoy
- Lethal: Claymore
Why: 4-stacks need map info. Tracker + Snapshot combo lets you hunt rat squads. With the Hawker HX nerfed, the meta single-sniper pick is now the Strider 300; the old double-sniper Strider + Hawker build no longer works. If your team really wants two snipers, run Strider + VS Recon, but expect the VS Recon to be punished at close range.
Ranked Play
- Primary: MXR-17
- Secondary: Strider 300
- Perks: High Caliber, Fast Hands, Tempered
- Tacticals: Stun
- Lethal: Semtex
Why: Ranked is a 4-stack of tryhards. The most-picked loadout on the ranked ladder at the moment is exactly this build. Don’t reinvent the wheel — use what works.
Champion’s Quest walkthrough (new for Season 4 Reloaded)
If you haven’t tried the nuke yet, here’s the new path:
- Earn the contract. Either:
- Win 5 matches in a row (any mode, any map), or
- Win 30 matches total in a season.
- Activate the contract at the start of your next match. It shows up in your tac-map at a specific POI on Rebirth Island.
- Complete 3 in-match objectives:
- Eliminate 3 squads in marked zones (no respawn allowed — you have to win the fights)
- Collect 3 specific dog tags from downed enemies in the marked zones
- Survive to the final circle while holding the contract item
- Activate the bomb at the marked site. You’ll have 90 seconds to defend it.
- Win the match to detonate the Tactical Nuke.
The whole quest takes 12–18 minutes if you’re running a competent 4-stack. Solo-queue runs are technically possible but expect to lose ~70% of attempts.
Tip: Do NOT take the contract into a 1v1 against a pre-aimed sniper. Drop the contract and re-pick it up if you need to reposition.
Common questions
Q: Should I switch from my B-tier main to an S-tier weapon? A: Only if your main is underperforming — not just because it’s not S. The Carbon 57 vs MPC-25 gap is small. The Strider 300 vs VS Recon gap is small. The MXR-17 vs AK-27 gap is medium.
Q: Is the BO7 meta stable, or should I wait for the next patch? A: Mid-season patches usually don’t dramatically rebalance weapons. The next major shake will be Season 5’s launch (~early September). Until then, this tier list should hold.
Q: What happened to the Bocek / Crossbow / other off-meta picks? A: Still off-meta. The bow got a small buff but it’s still a meme pick. Stick to the meta unless you’re playing for fun.
Q: Does controller vs KBM change the meta? A: Slightly. Controller players should prefer the X9 Maverick (less recoil) over the AK-27. KBM players can run either.

What the 26 July hotfix actually changed (in plain English)
If you only have 30 seconds, here’s the take:
- MXR-17 is still the best AR but it got easier to use, not stronger on paper. The lower first-shot recoil means you can build for ADS speed instead of stability and still hit your shots.
- The AK-27 is now a real alternative to the MXR-17 in close-mid range. If you’ve been holding out for an AK buff, this is the patch.
- The Maddox is back. It has not been a top pick since the Season 3 nerfs. After the 26 July hotfix, it is genuinely worth picking up again for the first time in months.
- Hawker HX is no longer the second sniper you pair with Strider 300. If you main quads, your second-sniper slot is now empty or filled by the VS Recon.
- Voyak is now a B-tier SMG. Two consecutive nerfs. The Carbon 57 has functionally replaced it.
Verdict
The Season 4 Reloaded patch pushed SMGs back into relevance and gave the Rebirth Island map a much-needed rework. The 26 July hotfix was a balance pass, not a meta overhaul — the trio of MXR-17 / Carbon 57 / Strider 300 is still the safe default, but the AK-27 and Maddox are now legitimate alternatives. The Champion’s Quest is a fun chase even if it eats 15 minutes of your evening. Run the MXR-17 + Strider 300 combo for Battle Royale, Carbon 57 + Dravec 45 for Resurgence, and you’ll be in the top 5% of lobby TTK averages within a week.
