The math on Slim vs Pro: the Pro’s $599.99 price is $200 above the discounted Slim Disc. That $200 buys you a stronger GPU, dedicated AI hardware for PSSR upscaling, and meaningfully smoother frame rates in Pro Enhanced titles. If you have a 4K TV with VRR and you play a lot of PSSR-supported games, the Pro is worth the premium. If you are on a 1080p TV or you primarily play non-Pro-Enhanced indie games, the Slim is the better deal.
The PS5 Slim Disc Edition at $399.99 is the right buy for most people this week. It is the same hardware as the launch model, plays every PS5 game, runs a 4K signal, and has the flexibility of a disc drive for used-game purchases, 4K Blu-ray movies, and the option to lend cartridges. Skip the Digital Edition unless you have a strong reason.
Console bundles: which are real value

Storage: the PS5 SSD add-on
The PS5 has one empty M.2 SSD slot. If you own more than ~6 PS5 games, you will fill the 1 TB internal storage fast.

Sony's compatibility list requires a PCIe Gen 4 drive with sequential read above 5,500 MB/s, a heatsink (PS5 will refuse a drive without one), and a 22mm-wide M.2 2230 / 2242 / 2260 / 2280 form factor. What not to buy
